Anime-Accurate Shusui Black Blade Design

This replica matches the Shusui sword as shown in One Piece — a hira zukuri blade with the red zigzag hamon running along the cutting edge against a matte black finish. The black-and-white diamond-pattern handle uses white rayskin showing through black cotton ito. The black saya features evenly spaced red circles and brass fittings, with a red flame-pattern habaki bridging blade and guard.

Golden Flower Tsuba — Shusui Guard Design

The golden eight-petal flower tsuba is Shusui's most recognizable feature. This three-dimensional guard uses sculpted lobes with beaded edge detailing — matching the iconic shape from the anime and manga. The brass construction provides both visual impact and real hand protection.

Shusui Katana — 1060 Carbon Steel Full Tang Blade

Forged from 1060 carbon steel with full-tang construction secured by bamboo mekugi. The blade is hand-sharpened and functional — not a zinc-alloy prop. 1060 carbon steel offers the right balance of hardness and durability for both display and cutting practice. The matte black finish replicates the kokuto (black blade) appearance from the series.

Shusui — Ryuma's Black Blade in One Piece

Shusui is one of the 21 Great Grade Swords and one of only two confirmed kokuto (permanent black blades) in One Piece — the other being Mihawk's Yoru. Originally wielded by Shimotsuki Ryuma, the "Sword God" of Wano, Shusui earned its black blade status through decades of Haki-infused combat. Zoro claimed it after defeating Ryuma's zombie at Thriller Bark and wielded it through Dressrosa before returning it to Wano in exchange for Enma.

Shusui Katana Display & Zoro Sword Collection

Ships with a display stand. Pair with Enma and Wado Ichimonji from our One Piece katana collection for a complete Zoro three-sword display. The black-and-red Shusui contrasts well against Enma's purple and Wado's white — each sword represents a different phase of Zoro's journey.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Shusui Katana

What is Shusui in One Piece?

Shusui is one of the 21 Great Grade Swords and a kokuto (permanent black blade) created through Ryuma's lifetime of Haki-infused combat. It was Wano's national treasure before Gecko Moria stole it. Zoro won it at Thriller Bark and returned it during the Wano arc.

Why did Zoro give up Shusui?

Zoro returned Shusui to Wano as a sign of respect — the blade was their national treasure, taken by grave robbery. In exchange, Hiyori gave him Enma, Kozuki Oden's sword, which became key to Zoro's growth.

Is this Shusui replica sharp?

Yes. The 1060 carbon steel blade is hand-sharpened and functional. Handle with care, store inside the saya, and verify your local regulations regarding bladed weapons.

What is a kokuto (black blade)?

In One Piece, a kokuto is a blade permanently blackened through its wielder's Armament Haki over years of combat. Only two confirmed kokuto exist: Shusui and Mihawk's Yoru. The black blade is harder, sharper, and more durable than ordinary swords.

What are all of Zoro's swords?

Current three: Wado Ichimonji (from Kuina), Sandai Kitetsu (Loguetown), and Enma (Wano). Previously: Yubashiri (destroyed at Enies Lobby) and Shusui (returned to Wano). All are available in our manga katana collection.

Shusui Katana Care Instructions

Wipe the blade with a soft cloth after handling and apply choji oil to maintain the black finish. Avoid abrasive cleaning that could strip the matte coating. Store in the saya in a dry environment. Clean the black saya and red accents with a dry cloth. Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve the color contrast.
