How do we forge Katana ?

Each of our katanas is handmade by experienced swordsmiths who have spent decades mastering their craft.

From forging to polishing, every detail is handled with care to ensure your blade isn’t just a weapon, it’s a piece of living tradition.

Here are some steps to forge your katana

We begin by forging the blade in the spirit of Japanese tradition. High-carbon steel is heated, folded, and layered several times to purify the metal and balance strength with flexibility.

This process removes imperfections and strengthens the blade’s internal structure. The result is a solid, resilient katana designed for both beauty and performance.

Once forged, the blade is coated with a special clay mixture, thinner on the edge, thicker on the spine. It’s then heated to around 800°C and quenched in water.

This sudden cooling hardens the edge while keeping the spine slightly softer, making the blade both sharp and shock-resistant.

This technique also reveals the Hamon: the wavy temper line that appears naturally from the differential hardening process.

The final stage is polishing, a crucial part of katana making. Using traditional polishing stones, we bring out the details of the blade, refine the edge, and highlight the natural grain of the steel.

The most delicate part is polishing the Kissaki (blade tip), where the Boshi, the ending pattern of the Hamon, becomes visible.

It’s a slow and careful process, but it’s what gives your katana its distinct character and brilliance.
