Refund policy

Katana Corp sells collectible/display swords and related items. These are not toys and require strict handling. For safety, compliance, and fairness, returns are subject to the following policy.


1) Order Cancellation

  • Standard items: you may cancel within 2 hours of placing the order.

  • Custom / personalized / made-to-order items (engraving, custom fittings, special finishes): cancellation may be refused once production has started. If accepted, a non-refundable production fee (up to 30%) may apply.

  • After the 2-hour window, orders are typically locked for processing and cannot be cancelled.

  • Approved cancellations are refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days (bank posting times may vary).


2) Right of Withdrawal (EU/UK Consumers)

  • If you are an EU/UK consumer, you have a statutory 14-day withdrawal right from delivery.

  • Katana Corp extends this to 30 days for eligible non-custom items.

  • Return shipping is at your expense, except when we made an error or where law requires otherwise.

  • Custom/personalized goods are excluded, as permitted by Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code and similar provisions elsewhere.


3) 30-Day Commercial Return (Worldwide)

We accept eligible returns within 30 days of delivery.

  • Original shipping is non-refundable unless required by law or due to our error.

  • For non-EU/UK returns (voluntary commercial policy), a restocking fee (up to 15%) may apply.

    • Why? Because sharp collectible swords cannot simply be reshelved. Each return requires mandatory safety inspection, re-oiling of the blade, reconditioning, repackaging, and administrative handling.


4) Return Eligibility & Condition

All returned items are subject to inspection.

Eligible condition (all must apply):

  • Unused and in like-new condition.

  • Complete: blade, saya, tsuba, sageo, accessories, paperwork.

  • In original packaging, suitable for resale (normal opening acceptable).

  • No evidence of functional use.

Examples of non-eligible returns (diminished value):

  • Scratches: hairline marks, polishing swirls, edge nicks.

  • Soiling/Stains: fingerprints, sweat, water spots, oil contamination, rust.

  • Damage from misuse: bent tip, chipped edge, sharpening marks, cracks from cutting tests.

  • Disassembly: removal of mekugi, dismounted tsuka, unauthorized modifications.

  • Packaging damage: tears, crushing, stains, odors (smoke, perfume) making it unfit for resale.

Diminished value means handling beyond what is necessary to verify the product’s nature and quality. If diminished value is found, the refund may be reduced or refused.

Custom/personalized products (engraving, made-to-order) are final sale, unless defective.


5) How to Start a Return (RMA Required)

  1. Locate your invoice/order number.

  2. Email contact@katana-corp.com with subject “RMA Request – Order #XXXX”.

  3. Wait for confirmation and instructions. Unauthorized returns are refused.

  4. Repack securely in the original packaging, blade oiled and protected.

  5. Ship via trackable, insured carrier. C.O.D. returns are not accepted.

  6. Email us the tracking number.


6) Inspection & Refund Timeline

  • Allow 3–5 business days after receipt for inspection and processing.

  • Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Banks may take 5–10 business days to post funds.

  • If the return fails eligibility, we will notify you. You may request reshipment (at your cost) within 14 days. Otherwise, the product may be disposed of for safety reasons.


7) Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items (On Arrival)

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect:

  • Contact us within 48 hours with order number, photos/videos of packaging (inside/outside), shipping label, and item.

  • Keep all packaging until the claim is resolved.

  • If confirmed, we will arrange replacement or refund at our discretion.

Damage caused by misuse, disassembly, cutting tests, sharpening, polishing, or improper storage is not covered.


8) Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges. Please request a return (if eligible) and place a new order.


9) Non-Delivery, Refused, Wrong Address

  • Wrong/insufficient address, unclaimed packages, delivery refused:

    • If returned to us, we may reship (extra postage) or refund the item price (minus shipping + restocking fee if applicable).

  • Marked as delivered but not received: check with household, neighbors, or local carrier. We will assist, but cannot guarantee replacement/refund for confirmed deliveries.


10) Shipping Costs & Risk of Loss

  • Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless due to our error or law.

  • Goods remain your responsibility until received and signed for at our return center.

  • We strongly recommend tracking + insurance.


11) Custom / Personalized Orders

  • Final sale, except verified manufacturing defects.

  • Engraving/customization fees are non-refundable.

  • Cancellations after production begins may incur a 30% fee.


12) Warranty Disclaimer

Katana Corp does not provide combat or performance warranties.
All products are sold as collectible/display items only.
Any functional use voids eligibility for returns and refunds.


13) Payment Method, Currency & Fees

  • Refunds issued to the original payment method only.

  • Refunds processed in the currency used at checkout.

  • We do not control bank processing times, FX fluctuations, or card fees.

  • Shipping paid on the original order is non-refundable except where required by law or due to our error.


14) Jurisdictional Notes

  • EU/UK consumers: statutory rights remain unaffected.

  • Non-EU/UK: returns are a commercial courtesy governed by this policy.

  • Governing law: Hungarian law applies, per our Terms of Service.
