Choose the handle and fittings

The tsuka-ito is the cord wrapped around the handle. Samegawa is the ray skin visible through its diamond-shaped gaps. Pick their colors separately, then choose a fittings set with a tsuba guard, fuchi collar, menuki ornaments and kashira end cap. You also choose the habaki blade collar and seppa spacers in their own steps, so the smaller details can match the rest of your design.

Finish with the saya

The saya is the scabbard; the sageo is the cord tied around it. Both have their own choices. Match them to the handle or try a contrasting color. You can return to an earlier step to compare another combination. Finish with optional engraving, a stand, a silk bag or a presentation box. You can skip any of these extras.

A real example

How much does a custom katana cost?

This example pairs the 9260 Steel 1 blade with Tsuba Steel Alloy 8 fittings and Saya 59. All other required choices are included options, with no engraving, stand, silk bag or premium box.

Your price is the base plus the options you confirm. Included choices add nothing; other choices show their extra cost. Changing the blade, fittings or saya can change the total, even if the colors look similar. Check the completed design and its total before adding it to your cart.

Custom katana questions

Can I order an unsharpened custom katana?

Yes. In the Sharpness step, choose Not Sharp if you want an unsharpened blade, or Sharp if you want it sharpened. Both choices are currently included at no extra cost.

Our swords are sold for collection and display. An unsharpened blade is still a real sword, not a toy. If you need a particular edge or finish for your display, check with us before ordering.

Can I engrave a name or kanji on the blade?

Yes. The engraving step accepts Latin letters, kanji, hiragana and katakana, up to 40 characters. You can enter a name, a short phrase or a date, or skip engraving altogether.

Check every letter and character before ordering, especially if the inscription is in a language you do not read. The added price appears in the engraving step and is included in your total when you enter text. Engraving is optional; a custom katana does not need an inscription.

Can I change my choices and save my design?

Before adding your katana to the cart, reopen a step to try another blade, color or fitting. Confirm your new selection and check the updated total. Once you are happy with the choices, use Save at the top of the configurator.

Your saved design stays in this browser. Return on the same device and browser, then use the restore prompt to continue. Save again after making changes you want to keep. Clearing browser data or using Reset can remove the saved design. For changes after an order has been placed, contact us first; a saved design does not update an existing order.

How long does a custom katana take to make?

The handcrafting estimate shown in the configurator is 4 to 5 weeks. Allow for delivery after that. For the United States, our current shipping estimate is 10 to 20 business days after dispatch.

If you need your katana for a birthday, a gift or a particular date, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the lead time for your choices. These are estimates, not a guaranteed arrival date. See our preparation and delivery details.

Do you ship custom katanas to the U.S.?

Yes. Orders of $199 USD or more qualify for free standard shipping to the U.S., Canada and Europe. Discount codes can be combined with free shipping; the order total after the discount must still be $199 USD or more.

We send a tracking number when your order ships. Shipping charges and availability outside the U.S. depend on the destination. Australia and New Zealand are not available for standard online delivery; contact us before ordering to discuss the required documentation and whether shipment is possible. Will I have to pay customs fees on delivery?

For every shipment we accept, Katana Corp prepays import duties, import taxes and standard customs clearance charges. You should not receive a customs bill when your katana arrives.

If a carrier asks you to pay, contact us before paying so we can resolve it. If you have already paid, keep the official receipt and send it to us for verification. Our customs coverage policy explains the process.

Can I return or exchange a custom katana?

Custom and personalized items are excluded from change-of-mind returns and exchanges. Take time to check the blade, colors, fittings and any engraving before placing your order.

If the item arrives damaged, defective or different from what you ordered, contact us with your order number and photos of the item and packaging. Please report it within 48 hours so we can deal with it promptly; this request does not limit your statutory rights. Keep the packaging and wait for instructions before sending anything back. Should I choose a custom katana or a model from the collection?

Choose custom if you have a particular combination in mind: a blade you like, a different handle color, specific fittings or a personal inscription. The configurator lets you choose those details separately and see how they affect the price.

If you find a design you already like in our katana collection, compare its specifications and price with your custom design. Check the preparation time for the model before ordering. A collection model has its own listed specifications; it does not offer the same set of individual choices as this configurator.
