Blue Blade — Dark Steel
The blade is 1060 carbon steel with a treated blue finish and hamon line. The blue runs deep enough to read as near-black under low light, revealing its true navy tone only when direct light crosses the surface. The hamon's wave boundary adds the blade's only decoration. The Aoi Seika Katana uses the same steel grade and blue treatment as the Lightning and Tentai Drake, but pairs it with a white handle and gold accents where those blades use black and navy handles.
Chrome-Gold Dragon Tsuba
The tsuba is copper with a chrome-silver base and gold dragon-floral openwork. The dragons occupy the guard's interior while gold chrysanthemum blooms line the outer rim. Silver and gold share the same disc without competing — cool chrome providing the structural field, warm gold providing the decorative figures. The silver habaki beneath carries seigaiha (青海波) wave-scale engravings, the same concentric-arc pattern found on the Shinku Raijin's habaki.
Gold Kintsugi Saya — Blue and Gold
Two scabbards. The primary is navy blue with subtle gold dust flecks scattered across the surface — quiet shimmer visible only under close inspection. The secondary is navy blue with bold gold crackle veins branching across the lacquer in kintsugi style. Same blue base, two different gold treatments: dust for restraint, crackle for drama. The Aoi Seika Katana transposes the Kinkuro's gold-on-black crackle concept onto navy blue — gold fractures against midnight ocean instead of midnight void. Eleventh dual-saya katana in our catalog.
Platinum Handle — White and Gold
Platinum white PU leather ito in flat wrap over synthetic rayskin. The flat wrap creates a smooth, layered surface distinct from the diamond geometry of cotton ito. Gold chrysanthemum menuki sit beneath the wrapping. The white handle against navy saya and blue blade creates the Aoi Seika Katana's temperature architecture: cool blue surrounds warm white, gold bridges between them.
Aoi Seika — Blue Sacred Star
蒼い星火 (aoi seika) — "blue sacred star" or "blue holy light." The gold crackle veins on navy blue are starlight breaking through the night sky, sacred radiance fracturing darkness. Blue and gold have signified royalty and divinity across civilizations — lapis lazuli and gold leaf in Egyptian tombs, azure and gilt in Byzantine mosaics. The Aoi Seika Katana channels that universal palette through Japanese sword form.
Display
Ships with an ornate dragon-peony stand. Alternate the gold-dust saya for understated displays and the kintsugi-crackle saya for visual impact. Pair with the Kinkuro (gold-on-black crackle) for a kintsugi duo, or with the Aokami (navy-white, ocean waves) for a blue-palette comparison.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the two saya?
The primary has subtle gold dust flecks on navy. The secondary has bold gold kintsugi-crackle veins on navy. Same base color, two intensities.
Is the ito leather or cotton?
Platinum white PU leather in flat wrap — smooth, layered surface with a subtle sheen. Different texture from standard diamond-pattern cotton ito.
How does this compare to the Kinkuro?
Both use gold kintsugi-crackle saya. The Kinkuro puts gold veins on black with a gold handle. The Aoi Seika puts gold veins on navy blue with a platinum white handle. Same technique, different palette.
Is the blade blue?
Yes. Treated blue finish on 1060 carbon steel. The blue appears near-black under low light and reveals its true navy tone under direct illumination.
What is seigaiha on the habaki?
Seigaiha (青海波) is a traditional Japanese pattern of repeating concentric arcs representing infinite ocean waves. Engraved into the silver habaki surface.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
