Purple Flame Engravings — Haki-Infused Blade
The polished 1060 steel blade carries purple flame engravings along its length — violet fire patterns with white wave crests near the habaki that reference Enma's supernatural hunger for its wielder's haki. In One Piece, the Enma drains Zoro's Busoshoku Haki uncontrollably until he masters the blade during the Wano Country arc. The purple flames represent that mastered state — cursed power brought under control. The Black Enma katana is the version after the struggle, when the blade turns black with the wielder's will.
Black Enma vs Original Enma
Our catalog carries two Enma versions. The original Enma replicates the blade as Kozuki Oden wielded it — the inherited form before Zoro received it. The Black Enma katana replicates the blade after Zoro's mastery — purple flames visible, black coloring emerging, the cursed power accepted rather than fought. Same tsuba design (brass tomoe), different blade treatment. Collectors of our One Piece katana collection can display both versions showing the sword's evolution across the Wano arc.
Red-Black Handle & Gold Fittings
Black-and-coral-red cotton ito wraps the handle in alternating bands — the red representing the life force Enma drains, the black representing the cursed blade's nature. Gold menuki sit beneath the wrapping. The brass tomoe tsuba matches the original Enma's guard design — the tomoe (comma-shaped) pattern that identifies the blade across both versions. The coral red sageo ties the handle's red accents to the scabbard, creating a color thread from guard through saya.
Glossy Black Saya
The saya is high-gloss black lacquered wood with gold koiguchi, kojiri, and floral accents — the darkened scabbard matching the blade's cursed transformation. When sheathed, the Black Enma katana reads as a refined black-and-gold sword; when drawn, the purple flames reveal the supernatural power within. The contrast between elegant exterior and cursed blade is the design point — Enma conceals its true nature until unsheathed.
One Piece — Zoro's Wano Arc
Enma is one of the 21 Great Grade Swords (Ō Wazamono) in One Piece — the only blade known to have wounded Kaido. Forged by Shimotsuki Kozaburo, wielded by Kozuki Oden, inherited by Zoro as replacement for Shusui. The blade represents the climax of Zoro's Wano arc: mastering a blade that actively fights its wielder, turning its curse into strength. For Zoro collectors, this completes the cursed blade set.
Display
Ships with an ornate black stand with painted dragon panel. The Black Enma pairs with the original Enma for a before-and-after display, or with Shusui, Wado Ichimonji, and our Zoro Katana for the complete Roronoa Zoro sword collection. The purple blade stands out in any One Piece lineup — no other blade in the collection carries colored flame engravings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Enma and Black Enma?
The original Enma replicates the sword as Oden wielded it. The Black Enma replicates the sword after Zoro masters its cursed power during the Wano arc — with purple flame engravings representing haki infusion and the blade's darkened state.
Are the purple flames painted?
The purple flame engravings are applied to the polished 1060 blade surface. They are more durable than standard paint but should be maintained carefully to avoid scratching.
Is this Black Enma katana sharp?
Yes. The 1060 carbon steel blade is hand-sharpened and functional beneath the engravings. Handle with care, store in the saya, and check local regulations before ordering.
Which other Zoro swords do you carry?
Our One Piece collection includes the original Enma, Shusui, Wado Ichimonji, and a general Zoro Katana — plus Trafalgar Law's Kikoku and Ame no Habakiri.
Is this part of One Piece?
Yes. Enma is Roronoa Zoro's cursed blade from One Piece, one of the 21 Great Grade Swords and the only weapon known to have scarred the Emperor Kaido. The Black Enma version represents the sword after Zoro masters its power during the Wano Country arc.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
