Kogarashi Katana - Autumn Wind Japanese Samurai Sword

Copper. Not gold, not bronze, but full warm copper wrapping everything from scabbard to handle in this burnished metallic glow. The Kogarashi commits completely to warm tones - copper scabbard, tan handle, golden brass fittings - creating this unified autumn-leaf aesthetic that's genuinely distinctive in the katana world.

That main scabbard has this gorgeous metallic copper finish, smooth and reflective like polished pennies or freshly forged metal cooling in a smith's shop. The warm tone catches light beautifully, creating highlights and shadows that give it dimensional depth. It's the color of sunset on metal, harvest season rendered in lacquer.

But check out that secondary scabbard in the close-up - it's got this wild textured finish that looks almost like cork or hammered copper or maybe granulated metal. The surface has this organic, almost geological quality, like you're looking at oxidized copper ore or tree bark preserved in metal. The texture contrasts beautifully with the smooth main scabbard while staying in the same warm color family.

The blade keeps things properly sharp with mirror-polished steel and subtle wave engravings near the collar. After all that warm copper and bronze, the cool silver blade provides necessary temperature relief - it's like seeing moonlight break through autumn clouds.

That habaki deserves appreciation for its intricate vertical pattern work. Looks like wood grain or flowing water rendered in raised brass, creating texture and visual interest on what could have been a simple collar. The craftsmanship shows someone cared about making every element beautiful, not just the obvious showpiece parts.

The guard goes dual-tone with golden brass outer ring and darker bronze interior featuring dragon or floral relief carvings. The warm metallic tones coordinate perfectly with the copper scabbard without being matchy-matchy - slightly different shades creating depth through variation.

"Kogarashi" translates to "cold winter wind" - specifically that first harsh wind that strips the last leaves from autumn trees. The name creates interesting tension with the warm copper aesthetic. Maybe the copper represents those autumn leaves being blown away by approaching winter. Or maybe it's about that moment when warm autumn meets cold winter, transformation frozen in metal.

The handle wrapping in that caramel-tan tone with white diamond menuki continues the earth-tone story. Everything exists in this warm palette - coppers, bronzes, golds, tans - creating cohesive visual narrative about harvest season, autumn endings, the warmth before winter arrives.

What makes this work is how committed it is to the warm metallic aesthetic. Most katanas include blacks, silvers, cool tones as contrast. The Kogarashi says "we're going full autumn metal" and executes that vision completely. The only cool element is the blade itself, which becomes all the more striking for being the lone cold note in a symphony of warmth.

For collectors drawn to copper aesthetics, autumn themes, or anyone who appreciates when a katana chooses a color palette and commits absolutely, the Kogarashi delivers. It's warmth rendered in metal, the last glow before winter's darkness.
