Blue Blade — Flame Overlay
Manganese steel with a treated blue finish and visible hamon line running the cutting edge. White flame shapes rise along the blade above the hamon — silver-toned overlay forms curling upward with organic irregularity, each tongue of flame following its own path. The Seiryu Enbu Katana is the only blade in our catalog where decorative flame elements appear directly on the steel surface — the pattern connects blade to saya, carrying the same white-on-blue motif from handle to scabbard tip.
Chrome Dragon Tsuba
The tsuba is iron with a chrome-silver finish — dragon forms carved in sculptural relief across the guard surface. The chrome creates a cool metallic register that matches the blade's blue-white palette. Beneath, the brass honeycomb habaki with gold bands provides the only warm accent in the upper assembly. The temperature contrast between chrome guard and gold habaki creates a visual threshold: cool above, warm below, the blade emerging from between them.
Dual Saya — Flame and Porcelain
The primary saya is deep navy blue with white flame-wave motifs rising from the kojiri — organic forms curling upward like spiritual energy against a midnight sky. The flames mirror the blade's overlay, making blade and scabbard a continuous visual story. The secondary saya is solid white with full-surface relief carving — dragons, phoenix, clouds sculpted into every face, creating a porcelain-ivory quality. This is the second relief-carved saya in our catalog after the Ogon Ryushi (gold carved). The Seiryu Enbu Katana is the ninth dual-saya blade in our catalog — and the only one where blade and saya share a continuous decorative motif.
White Handle — Gold Menuki
White cotton ito wraps the handle in clean diamond geometry. Gold-plated menuki sit beneath the wrapping — the gold picks up the habaki's warmth while the white ito connects to the white saya and white flame motifs. The Seiryu Enbu Katana limits its palette to four elements: navy blue, white, chrome silver, gold. Each component uses exactly one of these four — no exceptions, no fifth color, no hedging.
Seiryū Enbu — Azure Dragon Dance
青龍演舞 (seiryū enbu) — "Azure Dragon Dance." Seiryū is the Azure Dragon of the East, one of the Four Guardian Spirits (shijin 四神) in Japanese cosmology — protector of the eastern direction, associated with spring, flowing water, and renewal. The white flames on the blue saya are the dragon's energy made visible: spiritual force ascending from stillness into motion, the dance between rest and power.
Display
Ships with a natural wood stand. Display the blue flame saya for dramatic energy or the white carved saya for sculptural elegance. The navy-and-white palette ensures the blade reads as premium from any distance. Pair the Seiryu Enbu Katana with the Aokami (navy-white-gold, wave engravings) for an azure duo, or contrast with the Kurenai Kage (black-red, claw slashes) for opposite elemental registers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the hamon authentic?
The hamon line is produced by surface treatment during finishing rather than traditional clay-tempering. It creates a visible temper-line aesthetic on the blue blade surface.
What are the white shapes on the blade?
Silver-toned flame overlay forms rising along the blade above the hamon — decorative elements that mirror the white flame motifs on the navy saya.
Is the white saya carved or molded?
Relief-carved — dragons, phoenix, and floral scenes sculpted into the solid wood surface. The all-white finish creates a porcelain-like appearance.
What is the Seiryū?
The Azure Dragon of the East — one of Japan's Four Guardian Spirits (shijin). Protector of the eastern direction, associated with spring, water, and renewal in Japanese and Chinese cosmology.
Does this include two scabbards?
Yes. Navy blue with white flame motifs and white with full relief-carved dragon-phoenix scenes. Ninth dual-saya katana in our catalog.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
