Navy Blade with Visible Hamon
The blade carries a dark blue-gray finish on the spine that transitions to polished silver steel along the cutting edge. The hamon (temper line) sits exactly at that transition — a notare pattern (gentle undulating waves) running the blade's full length. On most katana the hamon is subtle, visible only in the right light. On this white katana sword, the navy-to-silver contrast makes it unmissable. The hamon becomes a visual feature rather than a hidden detail, which is the point of the design: a blade where the metallurgy is the decoration.
White-Silver Textured Saya
The saya is finished in a white-silver brushed texture — fine scratched lines across a metallic surface, as if silver leaf was applied and then distressed. The effect is matte rather than glossy, catching light in streaks rather than reflections. White scabbards are rare in the katana market. Most buyers default to black or colored lacquer, which makes the white katana immediately distinctive in any display. The white sageo wraps the kurikata cleanly, keeping the entire scabbard monochrome.
Iron Floral Tsuba with Silver Rim
The iron alloy tsuba carries floral relief across both faces — dark blossoms, leaves, and vines against the black iron surface, framed by a polished silver rim. The combination gives the guard weight without flash: ornate enough to reward close inspection, dark enough to blend with the navy blade when the sword is drawn. The brass habaki beneath continues the crackle openwork pattern found across several of our original designs. This is a functional katana — the display-grade aesthetic does not compromise the 1060 carbon steel edge beneath.
White Handle — Minimalist Grip
White cotton ito wraps the handle in a tight, slightly twisted pattern over white synthetic rayskin. No color accent, no contrasting diamonds — just white on white, letting the texture of the cord do the work. The handle feels different from standard black-wrapped katana: the white shows more of the wrapping structure, the cord crossings casting soft shadows that shift as you turn the sword. This white katana sword treats its handle as negative space — a visual pause between the ornate tsuba and the textured saya.
Display
Ships with an ornate black stand featuring a painted dragon-and-peony relief panel and gold-trimmed feet. The white-and-navy palette contrasts sharply against the dark stand, framing the sword like a gallery piece. The white katana pairs naturally with our Full Black for a yin-yang display, or alongside the Wooden Katana for a natural-versus-refined contrast. Frequently Asked Questions
Is the blade blue or black?
The blade has a dark navy-blue finish on the spine side, transitioning to polished silver steel along the cutting edge. In low light it reads closer to black; in daylight the blue tint becomes visible, especially near the hamon transition line.
Is this white katana sharp?
Yes. The 1060 carbon steel blade is hand-sharpened and functional beneath the navy finish. Handle with care, store in the saya, and check local regulations before ordering.
Will the white saya get dirty easily?
The textured metallic finish on the saya is more forgiving than glossy white lacquer — the brushed surface hides minor smudges. Clean with a dry soft cloth. Avoid storing the saya in dusty or high-humidity environments.
What pattern is the hamon?
The hamon follows a notare pattern — gentle undulating waves along the blade's length. Notare is one of the classic hamon styles in Japanese swordsmithing, associated with a balanced, flowing aesthetic.
Does this reference any anime or game?
No. This is an original design — a minimalist display katana built around the navy-and-white palette. It does not replicate any specific fictional weapon.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
