Damascus Blade with Hamon & Bo-Hi
The blade is folded Damascus steel in shinogi-zukuri geometry — the classic Japanese blade profile with a defined ridgeline. A hamon runs the cutting edge, and a bo-hi (fuller groove) runs the blade's length. Wave engravings near the habaki add detail without competing with the saya's cosmic drama. The Amethyst Nebula katana keeps its blade clean and polished: Damascus grain, hamon, bo-hi, subtle engravings — premium steel doing what premium steel does, while the purple does the talking elsewhere.
Galaxy Saya — Stars on Amethyst
The saya is deep amethyst purple lacquer scattered with golden specks and nebula-like patterns — organic clusters of metallic points distributed like an actual star field, denser in some areas, sparser in others. The effect has depth: the purple shifts tone under different lighting, and the gold catches light at varying angles, creating a three-dimensional quality flat paint cannot produce. The Aurora Katana scatters gold on black (night sky); the Amethyst Nebula scatters gold on purple (deep space). Same celestial concept, different cosmic register.
Dragon Tsuba with Gold Rim
The copper tsuba features dragon relief carved against a dark background with a gold brass rim framing the composition. The dual-tone treatment — dark body, gold edge — gives the guard visual depth. The iron-alloy habaki beneath carries honeycomb openwork, the geometric cutouts bridging the warm tsuba and the polished Damascus blade. Dragon guards appear throughout our catalog; this one distinguishes itself through the gold-rim framing that the Ryujin, Ouryu, and Koryo Ogon do not use.
Purple Handle — Full Commitment
Purple cotton ito wraps the handle — lavender-toned, bold, rare in katana design. Black synthetic rayskin shows through the diamond crossings as dark diamonds against the light purple cord. The Amethyst Nebula katana is the only purple-handled blade in our catalog. Purple has been the color of royalty across cultures — in Japan, murasaki (紫) was reserved for the highest court ranks during the Heian period. The handle declares its register before the blade is even drawn.
Amethyst Nebula — Cosmic Royalty
Amethyst is the purple gemstone associated with clarity and spiritual wisdom. A nebula is a cloud of gas where stars are born. The Amethyst Nebula katana channels both: the purple of mineral earth, the gold of stellar fire, Damascus steel forged through the same heat-and-pressure process that creates stars from cosmic dust. The forging metaphor is literal — steel transformation mirrors stellar transformation.
Display
Ships with an ornate black stand with painted dragon panel. The purple saya glows against the dark base. Pair with the Aurora (gold scatter on black — night sky) or the Starfall (turquoise-gold splatter — cosmic explosion) for a celestial trilogy. The purple handle ensures the Amethyst Nebula is identifiable from across any room.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the blade real Damascus?
Yes. Folded Damascus steel with visible grain, hamon temper line, and bo-hi groove. Shinogi-zukuri geometry.
What is the galaxy pattern on the saya?
Golden specks and nebula patterns scattered across deep amethyst purple lacquer — organic distribution mimicking a star field. Each saya's scatter is unique.
Is this Amethyst Nebula katana sharp?
Yes. The Damascus steel blade is hand-sharpened and functional. Handle with care, store in the saya, and check local regulations before ordering.
Why purple?
Purple (murasaki 紫) was the color reserved for the highest court ranks in Japan's Heian period. Combined with the cosmic saya, the purple creates a "celestial royalty" register — gemstone earth meets stellar fire.
How does this compare to the Aurora?
The Aurora scatters gold on black (night sky) with a Damascus blade and bamboo tsuba. The Amethyst Nebula scatters gold on purple (deep space) with a Damascus blade + bo-hi and dragon tsuba. Same celestial concept, different color register and blade features.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
