Cosmic Splatter Saya
The saya is glossy black lacquer with turquoise and gold paint splatter across the entire surface — explosive, organic, unrepeatable. No two Starfall saya have identical splatter patterns: each scabbard receives its paint individually, making every piece one-of-a-kind. The turquoise suggests cosmic energy — nebulae, auroras, bioluminescent deep water. The gold suggests starlight — falling, scattering, frozen mid-explosion on black lacquer. The Starfall katana saya is the only splatter-finish scabbard in our catalog — where every other saya in the lineup follows controlled patterns, this one embraces controlled chaos.
Chrome Dragon Tsuba
The tsuba features a three-dimensional dragon coiled around the guard in chrome finish — bright silver metalwork with the dragon's body projecting from the disc, scales individually sculpted, the head emerging from the openwork. Chrome is the most reflective guard finish in our catalog: where bronze warms and patinas, chrome stays bright and mirror-sharp. The dragon catches every light source in the room. The brass habaki beneath bridges the cool chrome and the warm gold handle.
Black Blade with Cloud Engravings
The blade is 1060 carbon steel with a black finish and silver cloud-wave engravings near the habaki. A machine-made hamon runs the blade's length. The black blade against the cosmic saya creates a continuous dark register from handle through scabbard — the gold handle and turquoise splatter providing the light that the black absorbs. The cloud motifs on the steel reference the space between stars: matter drifting through void, the cosmic dust from which new stars form.
Gold Handle — Full Metallic
Gold PU leather ito wraps the handle in the standard diamond pattern — the entire handle reads as gold. The gold sageo matches, and the brass habaki continues the warm register. The blade joins the Gold Katana as the only two blades in our catalog with gold ito — but where the Gold Katana commits to gold on the blade too, the Starfall keeps its blade black and puts its color on the saya. Different philosophy, same gold handle.
Starfall — Cosmic Explosion
A starfall is a meteor shower — streaks of light crossing the dark sky, burning bright for seconds before disappearing. The Starfall katana captures that moment: black void (blade, saya base), bright impact (turquoise-gold splatter), enduring brilliance (chrome dragon, gold handle). The saya is the sky. The splatter is the shower. The dragon is the mythological force that ancient cultures believed caused celestial events.
Display
Ships with an ornate black stand with painted dragon panel. The Starfall pairs with the Gold Katana (gold blade, kintsugi saya — shared gold register) for a golden duo, or with the Obsidian (black T10, cream saya — different black blade approach). The cosmic splatter saya ensures this blade stands alone in any collection — nothing else in the catalog looks like it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is each splatter pattern unique?
Yes. The turquoise-and-gold splatter is applied individually to each saya — no two have identical patterns. Every Starfall katana is one-of-a-kind in its scabbard design.
Is the hamon genuine?
The hamon is machine-made — visible on the blade but not produced through traditional clay tempering. For genuine clay-tempered hamon, see our T10 or Damascus katana.
Is this Starfall katana sharp?
Yes. The 1060 carbon steel blade is hand-sharpened and functional beneath the black finish. Handle with care, store in the saya, and check local regulations before ordering.
What is the gold handle material?
The ito is gold PU leather — synthetic leather with a metallic gold finish. It provides firmer grip than cotton and a warm metallic tone matching the gold sageo and brass habaki.
What is the dragon on the tsuba?
A three-dimensional coiled dragon in chrome finish — the dragon wraps around the guard with individually sculpted scales. It is the most reflective guard in our catalog.

Excellent
Good sword, small issue on arrival
Saya mouth was slightly loose when I got it, fitting tape sorted it. Balance is great though. People at my dojo always ask about it.
Way better than I expected
Hamon is clean, handle wrap tight, saya closes solid. Came in a wooden box. No complaints at all for the price.
Got it as a gift, he was speechless
Bought for my boyfriend who does iaido. He said the fit and finish were legit. I knew nothing about swords, site made it easy to pick.
Nice blade but took 2 weeks to arrive
Damascus looks great. Shipping to Portland took forever and tracking was dead for a week. Quality is there, logistics need work.
Third order, still no complaints
Ordered three times over two years. Always well packed, matches the photos. Support replied same day. Will keep coming back.
