Black blade / gold wrapping / Starfall
Gold-colored wrapping and a dark blade give Starfall its contrast. The saya adds a different texture: turquoise and gold flecks scattered across glossy black lacquer. A broad, pale wave follows the blade edge, and the guard carries warm-toned relief rather than a plain polished finish.
The blade
Starfall uses 1060 carbon steel with a black finish. The wide, wavy line along its edge is listed as machine-made, so it is a decorative hamon rather than a claimed clay-tempered line. The blade is sharpened and full tang, measuring 72 cm. Its dark surface makes the pale wave especially visible in the close-up photos.
The fittings
The handle is wrapped in gold-colored PU leather over synthetic rayskin. PU is a synthetic material; the gold describes its color. A thick gold-colored cotton cord matches the handle, while the copper guard has warm relief decoration. Turquoise and gold flecks give the black wooden saya a scattered pattern that reads differently from the smooth blade finish.
Starfall puts a large part of its gold color on the handle, with a dark blade beside it. Kinkuro offers another black-and-gold design to compare.
